Holiday Concert at WHS, Sun. Dec. 14

The Westport Historical Society proudly presents its ninth annual Holiday Concert featuring Mary Ann and Bill Hall and their staff from Music for Children & Beyond program on Sunday, December 14th at 2pm in the Sheffer Gallery of the Westport Historical Society, 25 Avery Place (across from Westport Town Hall). All are invited to enjoy holiday refreshments after the concert.

The sing-along, presented by Mary Ann Hall's Music for Children & Beyond™ program, will feature Christmas, Hanukkah and other songs of the season accompanied by faculty from MFC on guitar, harp, keyboard and flute. The intimate setting of the WHS's Sheffer Gallery will allow guest families and performers to enjoy "an up-close and beautiful sharing" of holiday songs, music educator Hall said. This year's ninth edition of MFC's holiday concerts at the Westport Historical Society will celebrate the themes of "peace, gratitude and kindness," the WHS executive director, Susan Gold, said.

Hall, who holds a master's degree from the U of Mich., founded Music for Children 40 years ago on the principle that "the child is the instrument." The mission, she said, is to develop musicianship and a lifelong enjoyment of music by "connecting the ART of the music with the HEART of the child." Hall said children from the musical theater program also will perform at this year's concert.

The Westport Historical Society is member-supported, non-profit educational organization dedicated to preserving, presenting and celebrating the history of Westport, CT.
