Held in Pequot Library's Auditorium/Concert Hall, the annual Mid-Winter Book Sale is the little sister of the Library’s nationally known Summer Book Sale. The Mid-Winter Sale is smaller, but more intimate with many treasures and bargains to be found.

Categories include: Fiction; Classics; Mystery; Biography; History; Cookbooks, including Americana regional cookbooks; hundreds of hand-picked LP records; CDs, DVDs, other Media; Comics 1970s - 1990s; and Connecticut/New England books.

Come in from the cold and browse for books, media, and bargains in a cozy environment. During the sale for the ninth year listener-supported community radio station, WPKN, will broadcast the blues live! The public is invited to enjoy rare performances by seasoned and professional musicians while they shop. The music is put together by Mark Naftalin, former Paul Butterfield Blues Band keyboard player. Naftalin, a pianist, will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band in 2015. Pequot Library’s Book Sale music will consist of piano pieces by Naftalin on Pequot Library’s extraordinary Steinway concert grand piano (solo and accompanied). Also, solos and ensembles of various dimensions featuring other performers selected by Naftalin will perform. The music will be entirely acoustic.

For music lovers Pequot Library’s Mid-Winter Book Sale has hundreds of LPs. According to Rolling Stone magazine, sales of vinyl albums continue to grow, setting new records. When it comes to sound quality, nothing beats vinyl. Live Music start-times will be confirmed in January and will be for one hour each day. Visit www.pequotlibrary.org for times.

Snow Day: If a weather closing causes the Library to be closed on Saturday or Sunday, the book sale will resume on Monday, January 19.
