Sewing Programs for Teens & Tweens at Fairfield Woods Branch Library

Fairfield, CT - September is National Sewing Month and, as such, the Fairfield Woods Branch Library will be hosting several ongoing sewing programs. Sewing is making a comeback and if you would like to learn the craft or even if you are already accomplished in this area, the Fairfield Public Library Sewing Studio has something for you.

On September 14th, a new six-week program, Sew Trendy Teens, will begin. This program is for teens entering 6th and 9th grade. An identical program for Tweens in 4th and 5th grades, Sew Cool Tweens, will begin on September 15. The two groups will learn how a sewing machine works and to operate it with confidence, follow a simple pattern and tap into their emerging sense of style. Small sewing projects will be the focus culminating in a fantastic Halloween Costume that participants will design and construct. Some materials may need to be purchased. Sessions will begin at 4:00 pm at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road.

Danielle Weston, a recent graduate of Norwalk Community College, will be teaching these programs. She has been sewing since she was in sixth grade and has been teaching since she was a senior at Fairfield Warde High School. She loves working with kids and helping them unlock their creative potential.

Advance registration is required due to the limited space and sewing machines. All programs at the Fairfield Public Library are free of charge.
