Ribbon Cutting Marks Full Operation of Solar Unit at Fairfield's Sportsplex

Fairfield, CT - Davis Hill Development, LLC, a leading clean energy portfolio solutions company, announced the completion and commissioning of a 200 kW solar array for Fischel Properties Inc. The roof mounted array is located at Fairfield's Sportsplex, 85 Mill Plain Road. It will offset 235,000 kilowatt hours of usage annually and save Fischel Properties $600,000 dollars on their electricity bills over the life of the system.

Davis Hill Development, LLC developed the project and the array was financed by the Connecticut Green Bank.

“We are regularly evaluating our properties and projects to figure out how we can reduce our carbon footprint. By working with GreenBank and Davis Hill Development on the Sportsplex solar panel project we were able to achieve that affordably. In our attempt to create a more green property we have upgraded to LED exterior lighting in addition to adding the 200 KW array,” said Deanna Spartachino of Fischel Properties.

“The rooftop solar project at the Fischel Properties Sportsplex is an innovative way for the property to cut down on its electric costs,” said Bryan Garcia, President and CEO of the Connecticut Green Bank. “The Connecticut Green Bank was excited to partner with the Fischel team and the excellent development shop of Davis Hill Development to finance this endeavor, by combining our C-PACE program with a low-cost Solar Equipment Lease. This project and other projects supporting energy efficiency measures and renewable energy sources benefit Connecticut and the region by making our electricity supply cheaper, cleaner, and more reliable.”

President of Davis Hill Development, Andy Karetsky, said, “We are proud to have provided Fischel Properties a clean, renewable and cost-effective solar energy solution for their facility. Both Fischel Properties and the Connecticut Green Bank have been excellent partners throughout the whole process and we are excited to get this array up and running.”

Associate Director of Outreach for Connecticut Green Bank, Bob Wall, said, ““The Sportsplex solar project is the town’s first major completed energy project using C-PACE financing and resulted from an outreach campaign led by Mark Barnhart, Director of the Office of Community & Economic Development and the Fairfield Clean Energy Task Force. We salute the leadership and vision of Fischel Properties and hope that other commercial properties and non-profits will follow their example. Residents who are interested in saving money and going green can learn more by attending a Solarize Fairfield workshop at the Public Library on April 28 at 7 p.m.”

On April 18, a ribbon cutting event took place at the Sportsplex to recognize the fully functional array which consists of over 600 panels. In attendance (and in order from left to right on attached photo) were: Deanna Spartachino of Fischel Properties, Ron Blumenfeld of Fairfield’s Clean Energy Task Force, First Selectman Mike Tetreau, Spencer Monson and Andy Keretsky of Davis Hill Development, Mary Hogue, Chair of the Earth Day Committee and Bob Wall of CT Green Bank.
