Southport, CT – Bees are Buzzing! The Queen is Coming! On Saturday, July 9, 2016, from 2:00pm - 3:00pm, all ages are welcome to attend a free program in Pequot Library’s Auditorium. Local beekeepers from the Backyard Beekeepers Association will present a lecture on the nature of bees and the popular art of beekeeping. The public can view live bees and their queen. Then participants can try on and examine real beekeeping garb and equipment. Folks can make a beeswax candle and sample different varieties of honey while learning how to protect these fascinating insects. No registration is required and this program ties in with Pequot Library’s Special Collections exhibition: The Birds and the Bees--Preserving Their Habitat.
