Valerie Garlick to Step Down as Exec Director at Carriage Barn

NEW CANAAN, CT – The Carriage Barn Arts Center / New Canaan Society for the Arts announced today that Valerie Garlick, will be leaving her post as Executive Director effective August 10, 2016. Valerie will be moving on to the position of Executive Director of the Institute Library, in New Haven.

In her letter to the NCSA Membership, Valerie stated, “I leave my position at the Carriage Barn with no small amount of sadness. The Carriage Barn is an exciting and vibrant resource for New Canaan. I will miss the opportunity to continue to explore the many new and imaginative ways in which this unique structure can and will, in the coming years, add to the richness of the cultural scene in New Canaan.”

NCSA Board President Serena Gillespie stated, "We're grateful to Valerie for advancing our mission with her creativity, innovation, warmth and hard work. The Board very much enjoyed our collaboration and will miss her."

The NCSA Board of Directors is currently conducting a search and interviewing candidates to fill the position of Executive Director.

The New Canaan Society for the Arts is a member-supported, non-profit cultural organization that operates the Carriage Barn Arts Center, located in Waveny Park. In addition to organizing member and juried art exhibitions at the Carriage Barn, NCSA hosts an annual exhibition in the Carriage Barn showcasing the work of talented high school students and also sponsors “Art in the Windows” which places art in retail shops in downtown New Canaan, for the enjoyment of pedestrians and shoppers. The Carriage Barn Arts Center is open September through June, Wednesday-Saturday, from 10 am – 3 pm and Sundays from 1-5 pm. Admission is free and all exhibitions are open to the public.
