New Friends Group at Fairfield's Bigelow Center

Fairfield, CT - The Bigelow Center for Senior Activities announces the creation of a new organization, Friends of the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities Inc. It is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt entity whose mission is to raise and administer funds to enhance programs, services, and facilities of the Fairfield Senior Center. This group will also provide support and advocacy for the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities on a broad basis in the community.

The new “Friends” is run by volunteers who will work closely with the staff at the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities on programs and events such as providing monthly meals for the Caregiver Support Group at the Senior Center, enhancements to the kitchen, and sponsoring the Volunteer Luncheon. Most activities are free to members of the Center. However, like many publicly supported programs, the Center relies on additional contributions and donations.

The officers on the board of Friends include: Marjorie Morresi, President, Richard DeAngelis, Vice President/Secretary, and Curtis Bentley, Treasurer. The directors are Peggy Chandler, Helaine Davis, Nancy Legare, Karen Mitri, Terry Murphy, Cathy Rotanz, Margo Schiff, Palma Senatore and Carol Way.
