Fairfield Museum's Holiday Express Train Show to Have Expanded Evening Hours

FAIRFIELD, CT - For the first time, locals can get into the holiday spirit by spending an evening at the Fairfield Museum’s renowned Holiday Express Train Show! Throughout the month of December, the delightful show will be open on Thursday and Friday evenings from 5-7pm. Also, on Thursday, December 8 from 5-8pm, adults can drop their kids at the Museum for a Kids’ Night Out featuring pizza and fun while their parents attend Fairfield’s Shop & Stroll.

“The Holiday Express Train Show has become a real Fairfield tradition,” said Mike Jehle, the Museum’s executive director. “Now in its 11th year, the show is even more elaborate, with additional tracks and scenery. We’re also delighted to offer expanded evening hours and additional programming, so more people will have the opportunity to enjoy the show.”

The Holiday Express Train Show runs through January 8, 2017. In addition to the evening hours, weekday hours are 11am to 2pm and weekend hours are 10am to 4pm. The Holiday Express Train Show is generously sponsored by Roland & Co. and Hatfield Insurance Company. It is presented with the support of Central Connecticut G-Gaugers, Connecticut G-Scalers Club, Hobbytown USA and Housatonic Model Railroad Club.

The Museum is also excited to offer a variety of programs will throughout the month. Highlights include a “Candy House Workshop” on Wednesday, December 10, a “Build-A-Train Workshop” offered daily from December 27-30 and “Kids Night Out” on Thursday, December 8. In addition, children will enjoy “Choo Choo Storytimes” on Wednesdays in December at 10:30am and “Storycraft” sessions on Tuesday, December 6, 13 and 20 10:30am. Choo Choo Storytimes and Storycraft sessions are free of charge and sponsored by People’s United Bank.

For adults, Fairfield Museum is hosting a party, “Holiday Cheer at the Burr Mansion,” on Sunday, December 11 from 5-8pm and a festive “Holiday Sip & Shop” on Thursday, December 15 from 6-8pm. “The Sip & Shop event this summer was very popular,” noted Deb Owens, the Museum’s marketing & communications manager. “We decided to bring back a holiday version this year so locals can spend some time socializing with friends while enjoying discounts in our fully-stocked Museum Shop! In addition, we’ll have Elizabeth Menke, who put together the fabulous Entrée Nous dining passport, on site to discuss the restaurants featured in the book.”

Finally, to give back to those in need, the Fairfield Museum will host a toy drive for Al’s Angels from Monday, December 5 through Friday, December 9. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for a girl or boy, newborn to 10 years old to the Fairfield Museum and receive one free admission that day.

The Fairfield Museum is located at 370 Beach Road in Fairfield, CT, and is open seven days a week, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for students and seniors.
