X.po.zur Gallery EXPOSED

Westport, CT -- Gallery owner Mark Krueger has been creating Westport’s newest gallery for many months. As artists know and understand, the time between conception and inception can be a very long period. The concept for X.po.zur gallery began when Mark dreamed of having a place along the river in Westport where artists from many disciplines could feel at home, gather, and share their talents and gifts and where the public could enjoy the space and the talents and gifts being shared by the artists. The inception is about to happen.

On Saturday July 15, X.po.zur gallery (https://xpozur.gallery) will have a comfortable opening from 5 to 8 p.m. with wine, beverages, and light hors d’ouerves. Nothing fancy, just friends enjoying the art, the view, the people, the food, the wine. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Krueger wants his gallery to be a participatory gallery. And by that he means that he wants the space to be used by musicians, culinary artists, visual artists, writers, poets.

He says, “While our relationship with established art collectors is more definitive and specialized, our community mission is to create a more complete gallery experience within an interactive framework.”

The location of X.po.zur gallery is in Westport on the Saugatuck River at 263 Riverside Avenue. There is ample parking both on the street and in surrounding lots.

The first artists being exposed at X.po.zur are Armando Bertoli and Estelle Nussbaum. On the Xpozur website, the following statement appears from Mr. Bertoli: “The viewer needs to participate. I believe: that the true underlying fabric of Reality exists only as possibility. It is only through the Observer’s mental faculty that form, structure, all the material aspects of perceived reality come into being.”

From Ms. Nussbaum, a graduate of the Yale University School of Art having earned her MFA degree in Painting in 1988, “The work you are looking at today represents an ongoing dialogue between artist and subject matter that began in the early 1980’s. Starting with “Utilitarian Iconography” whose subject matter was an ironing board and an iron and moving through the “Shelton Canal Paintings,” I have always been interested in the dailiness, the accessibility, and the pure utility of my subject matter. In the process of considering and reconsidering this seemingly mundane terrain I have found that what starts out as ordinary begins to transcend that confine -or in proclaiming its ordinariness it takes on a life of its own. Any existing hierarchical structure might be turned on its head with the least important becoming the most important and vice versa.” estellenussbaum.com is Ms. Nussbaum’s website.

The Bertoli-Nussbaum show will be open from July 15-July 23. The gallery will be open on July 15 and 16 from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday July 19 and 20, the opening hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday July 21 and 22, the hours are 4 to 9 p.m. and Sunday July 21 from noon to 6 p.m.

There will be a more formal, private event opening on Saturday July 22 about which Mr. Krueger is happy to inform you.
