Windows Projects in Downtown Bridgeport

Bridgeport, CT - The Downtown Windows Project features the work of Bridgeport Art Trail artists, displayed in one of three storefront windows on Main Street in downtown Bridgeport. The project is produced by City Lights and sponsored by the Downtown Special Services District (DSSD) and Spinnaker Real Estate Partners. City Lights is a nonprofit organization that serves the community through art and produces the Bridgeport Art Trail, a city- wide open studios weekend each November. The artists and themes presented reflect the creativity and rich diversity of Bridgeport’s arts community.

Featured Artists and Locations:

Will Corprew is a visual artist whose work has branched into areas including Product and Interior Design. His figurative work is characterized by bright colors, applied in gestural brushstrokes on large formats. It has a strong base in Geometric Abstraction with subtle graphic elements that result in impressive portraits.

This window installation is just a small sampling of Will’s abilities and creativity. He is a multi-talented, hardworking artist. His endeavors include repurposing found objects into custom furniture, mural paintings, wall treatments, interior design and furniture, tiny house construction and design. For the Windows Project, Will has chosen figurative and abstract art paired with samplings of his interior design collection.

Window Location: At right corner of the Mechanic’s & Farmers Building at 930 Main Street, Bridgeport.

Robin Jopp of Made in Bridgeport and Steve Gerber of City Lights were asked to create an installation inspired by vintage images of a Woolworth’s store, once among the popular downtown destinations. Robin lent installation items from her “Made In Bridgeport” vintage inventory. A busy scramble of objects and copies of vintage post cards reminiscent of the original department store window are organized around a simple red and white paper strip, suggesting an awning. The Team are masters at the placement of objects.

Window Location: The Woolworth’s Window is on the corner at 1085 Main Street, Bridgeport.

Window is located on the ground floor of the Harral, Security and Wheeler (HSW) building at 1123 Main Street, Bridgeport.
