Exide Site Clean-up Completed

Fairfield, CT -- Clean-up of the former Exide Battery site and the adjoining Mill River has reached a successful conclusion, according to the Town of Fairfield's Economic Development department.

Contractors completed work on removing and disposing of the double liner system that was used for the dewatering operation this past month, and have since demobilized from the site. Site inspections will continue in accordance with permitting requirements until a vegetative cover has been fully established. Monitoring to date has shown no exceedance with permitting requirements. The company still needs to submit final documentation reports to federal and state regulators.

The six-acre parcel is expected to be available for redevelopment in 2018. For additional information on the project, please contact the company’s environmental consultant, Ralph Klass of CCA, LLC, at ralphklass@ccaengineering.com
