NBC’s American Ninja Warrior Legends To Visit b.good Fairfield to Raise Awareness About Childhood Summer Hunger

Fairfield, CT - On Tuesday, August 1st several members of NBC’s Team Ninja Warrior champions, James McGrath “the Beast,” Allyssa Beird (Team Ninja Warrior 2017 Champion) and Joe "The Weatherman” Moravski (Team Ninja Warrior 2017 Champion) partner up once again with b.good Fairfield and Food Rescue US (Formerly Community Plates) to meet their fans. The ninjas will help raise awareness about Childhood Summer Hunger.

On August 1st, The Ninjas will be at b.good at 3:00 pm to meet their fans. The joint partnership between b.good Fairfield, Food Rescue US  and the Ninjas will kick off  the  “Kids Eat Free Until School Starts” campaign (one kid’s meal per purchase of adult entrée) as an effort to help stomp out Childhood Summer Hunger. 5% of b.good’s retail sales that day will be donated to Food Rescue US. Throughout the day there will also be a fun showing of a video made of the Ninjas on their food rescues a couple of weeks prior.

The Ninja food rescue is part of an ongoing relationship between the two companies.  Since b.good opened in August 2015, it has donated $1,975 in cash to (Food Rescue US) FRUS, giving its guests the opportunity to participate in each donation. As part of its unique charitable mandate, the restaurant holds quarterly benefit days on which it donates FRUS 5% of sales. A b.good mobile app gives guests the ongoing opportunity to donate as well.  These donations have funded more than 39,000 rescued meals.

“Because healthy, fresh food, is an important part of Ninja’s physical training, our Ninja customers like Allyssa and Joe are perfect advocates to help raise awareness about the availability of wasted healthy food to end childhood hunger. The ninjas will film a video of their food rescue that shows their fans first-hand what a simple solution Food Rescue US presents.” says Molli Hourihan, who along with her husband Steve, own b.good Fairfield.

“There’s nothing better than partners who respond creatively and passionately to the problems in their community and b.good Fairfield is exactly that kind of partner. Food Rescue US is so honored to be working with them to help provide for children in need over the summer. They’re an inspiration to us,” says Food Rescue US Executive Director, Kevin Mullins.
