Only Surgeon in N.E. Who Performs Comprehensive Robotic HPB Surgery Joins St. Vincent's

BRIDGEPORT, CT - St. Vincent's Medical Center has announced that Imran Siddiqui, MD, FACS, recently joined the Lebo-DeSantie Center for Liver and Pancreatic Disease surgical team. Specializing in Hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) Surgery, Dr. Siddiqui is one of the few surgeons in the country - and the only surgeon in New England - trained to perform comprehensive advanced robotic surgeries, including whipple, biliary reconstructions and liver resections. 
 
   
   
Dr. Siddiqui comes to St. Vincent's from Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he completed his HPB surgery fellowship specializing in both benign and malignant conditions affecting the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Siddiqui was an associate general surgeon at Geisinger Clinic, while concurrently serving as an adjunct professor at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, and his residency at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. 
  
The recipient of several awards including top honors and Gold Medallions in graduating top of his class in medical school, surgical residency and fellowship, Dr. Siddiqui was the recipient of the prestigious Carl Boyd award for best surgical resident. Most recently, he was awarded the first prize at the Annual American HPB Association Fellows Jeopardy in 2017. In addition to these accolades, he has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and has given oral presentations at annual society meetings, including the American College of Surgeons, American Hepatopancreaticobiliary Association (AHPBA) and Society of Surgical Oncology.

"This new program will be the first of its kind in the state of Connecticut, allowing for more precise surgery with faster recovery and personalized care."
