The Town of Fairfield's Strategic Plan Committee Seeks Public Input

Fairfield, CT - Fairfield's seven-member Strategic Plan Committee (SPC) will be holding public information meetings and workshops in 2018 to engage the Fairfield community to help develop a thoughtful and comprehensive Strategic Plan for the long-term planning needs of the Town. The meetings will also detail the purpose and process on what is included in a Strategic Plan and how it is to be developed. Dates and locations will be announced early in 2018.

All sectors of the Town—residents, businesses, non-profits, universities, clergy, neighborhood associations, and any other persons or groups living or working in Fairfield—are encouraged to participate in the process and give input for the Strategic Plan by:

• Attending any of the soon-to-be announced public workshops and information meetings; and
• Submitting a Community Input and Feedback Form or simply emailing the Committee by accessing the Committee’s webpage, http://www.fairfieldct.org/spc; and
• Attending any of the regularly scheduled SPC meetings which are generally held the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm in the 2nd floor conference room of The Honorable John J. Sullivan Independence Hall, 725 Old Post Road. (To verify meeting information hasn’t changed, you may click here http://www.fairfieldct.org/townmeetings).

About the SPC:
The Fairfield Board of Selectmen (BOS), in consultation with other Town Boards, has determined that a Strategic Plan would benefit the longer term planning needs of the Town. As a result, the BOS appointed the seven-member volunteer resident Strategic Plan Committee last May.

The SPC has been charged with overseeing the development of a Strategic Plan, which assesses and analyzes the direction the Town wants to follow in the future, outlines approaches to pursue what is best for Fairfield, and incorporates the entire Fairfield community in the process.

A major component of the Strategic Plan involves public participation across all sectors of the community to help address opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in order to leverage and sustain all of the great aspects of the Town of Fairfield.

The SPC is in the process of engaging a Planning Consultant to support the development of the plan.
Overall, this project may take one to two years. This is the Town’s first attempt at this type of town-wide plan.
