Fairfield Hosts Town-Wide Food Drive April 26 & 27

Join your friends and neighbors in celebrating Fairfield's 375th Anniversary with its historic town-wide food drive. It's an opportunity to join together and show the generous spirit of our Fairfield Community, as we help our neighbors in need.

Proceeds will benefit Operation Hope, The Bridgeport Rescue Mission, The Thomas Merton House and A Project From the Heart. Together, these organizations feed hundreds of families in Fairfield and our neighboring communities each week, and send thousands of care packages to our Troops serving overseas.

Here's How It Works:

The Fairfield town-wide food drive will be held on Saturday April 26 from 8am to 4pm and Sunday, April 27 from 8am to 3pm at Fairfield Ludlowe High School. There, non-perishable food donations from individuals, families and organizational partners will be collected.

The Town has partnered with its public and private schools, universities, houses of worship, civic organizations and local businesses, who will be conducting their own food drives in the days before the 26th and 27th and delivering their collections to Fairfield Ludlowe High School that weekend.

You Can Help by Donating Food, Money, or Time... Or All Three!

• Bring your gift of non-perishable food items to FLHS between the hours of 8:00 and 4:00 on April 26, and 8:00 and 3:00 on April 27th. Drive-through lanes will minimize waiting

• Gift cards from Stop 'n Shop, ShopRite or Whole Foods are a great way to donate! Gift card donations can be made in any amount you choose. Thanks to the generous support of these grocery stores, items needed most by the food pantries can be purchased, at a 10% discount. Your gift card donation will go a long way towards stocking local food pantries for the upcoming year.

• Contribute to a pre-collection site around Town. You can leave non-perishable food items at most Churches, Synagogues, libraries, clubs and civic organizations in Fairfield.

• A great way to support the food drive is by making a financial donation. Every dollar you donate will go directly towards helping the food pantries, and your contribution is tax deductible. The generous discount offered by ShopRite, Whole Foods and Stop 'n' Shop will help stretch every dollar collected. Checks can be made out to the Eunice Dennie Burr Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution as follows: "Eunice Dennie Burr DAR-Fairfield 375 Food Drive". Donations can also be made through www.ffldfooddrive.org.

• Sponsor the event. $100 sponsorship opportunities are available to all business, families and groups. In exchange for your generous donation, a lawn sign will be displayed along the entrance to the Food Drive, prominently displaying your name.

• Volunteer and get involved! Needed are sorters, boxers, lifters, greeters, and much more. Come alone, or with a group. Go to the volunteer sign-up page at VolunteerSpot: http://vols.pt/bKzNPL, enter your email address, and sign up! Choose your spots - VolunteerSpot will send you an automated confirmation and reminders. Easy!

• Spread the word! Tell your family and friends and urge them to join you. Like Fairfield 375 Food Drive on Facebook and visit www.ffldfooddrive.org.
