The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and CBIA will host a Candidate Forum on CT20x17 at the Pequot Library on September 17, from 8am to 9:30am, at Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave., Southport. The event is free and open to the public. To reserve a seat, call the Chamber at 203-255-1011.

About CT20x17 Campaign

A number of organizations and media surveys rank the business climate of the 50 states. CNBC's poll, for instance, looks at ten different factors that influence business. Connecticut is near the bottom of nearly all these surveys. Where Connecticut suffers most is in the cost of doing business, the cost of living and our infrastructure and transportation, which have some of the worst ratings. Connecticut was ranked 45th in the nation. This ranking requires improvement. The CT20x17 initiative, and its goal, is to move the state from #45 to #20 by 2017.

The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and CBIA invites its membership and the public to meet and hear what the candidates have to say … “If you are elected, what would you see as your priority to help CT become top-20 status in national rankings by 2017?”

Each candidate will share their ideas for about 5 minutes, to allow for a Q&A from audience at the end. Participating candidates include:

  •       StateSenateDistrict28 | State Rep. Kim Fawcett (D) and State Rep. Tony Hwang (R)
  •       StateHouse District 132 | Kevin Coyner (D) and State Rep. Brenda Kupchick (R)
  •       StateHouse District 133 | Cristin McCarthy Vahey (D) and Carol Way (R)
  •       StateHouse District 134 | Tara Cook-Littman (D) and Laura Devlin (R)
