Tetreau and Marmion Unanimously Endorsed by Ffld Dem Town Committee

On Thursday evening July 23rd, Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau and Selectman Sheila Marmion were unanimously endorsed by the Fairfield Democratic Town Committee to lead the Democratic ticket in the 2015 fall municipal elections.

Tetreau's first term as First Selectman is highlighted by four consecutive budgets with declining taxes increases and a 2015 budget with the lowest tax increase in the last 15 years, according to campaign organizers. “What I’m most grateful for is the support I’ve received from Republicans and Democrats alike.  That my 2015 budget was endorsed across party lines and approved by 43 out of 48 RTM members, shows that we’ve been able to overcome partisan politics and focus on building a stronger Fairfield,” Tetreau said.

The budget, according to the campaign team, also protects Fairfield’s quality of life by including the full amount requested by the Board of Education, meeting the long-term commitments to Fairfield’s pension system and adding a $650,000 contribution to the surplus. The 2015 budget also allows for an increase in Senior and Disabled Tax Relief, restores funding for the library and has more money for needed side-walk and road repairs, campaigners added.

First elected in 2011, Tetreau promised transparency, fiscal responsibility and to work to keep Fairfield “the best value in Connecticut.”

Selectman Sheila Marmion has been recognized as a devoted public servant dedicated to expanding senior services, building stronger schools and enhancing Fairfield’s quality of life. Marmion was appointed to the Board of Selectman to replace Christine McCarthy-Vahey after McCarthy-Vahey was elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives.

"I am excited to continue to work with the First Selectman to maintain and build upon our excellent schools and services, while ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency," Marmion said.

Tetreau was nominated by Town Attorney Stanton Lesser and RTM member Liz Zezima. Marmion was nominated by Zezima and RTM member Julie Gottlieb.
