Fairfield, CT - On Friday, April 15, Connecticut State House of Representative candidate Dru Georgiadis expressed outrage over the Governor’s proposed cuts to Fairfield’s education funding.
“I stand firmly behind our community’s commitment to our children’s future and to Fairfield’s schools; and I do not support the Governor’s PLANNED cuts in public education funding,” Dru Georgiadis said.
Dru Georgiadis, a 25-year resident of Fairfield, is the mother of four sons – all graduates of Fairfield’s public schools. “My sons have gone out into the world with a solid foundation that is, in large part, due to the education they received in Fairfield’s public schools. I credit Fairfield public schools with having prepared each of them to take the next step towards a future in today’s competitive global economy. I want nothing less for all the students who will follow.”
Ms. Georgiadis believes education is the cornerstone of a strong community, as well as being a critical component in supporting local property values and the local & state economy. Dru believes that, with proper fiscal management, we can invest in our children’s future without breaking the bank or negatively affecting support for other members of our community.
Georgiadis urged state lawmakers to examine the state budget for ways to create efficiencies, and to find savings - before cutting education spending.
Dru Georgiadis is running for State Representative in Fairfield's 132nd District.
