Fairfield Welcomes New Purchasing Director

Fairfield, CT - The Town of Fairfield has hired a new purchasing director following the retirement of Twig Holland who served in this role for 17 years.

After an extensive search, the Town has chosen Gerald J. Foley to serve in this key role. Mr. Foley brings over 25 years of experience in purchasing, having served as Purchasing Agent for the City of Norwalk for past 15 years, Assistant Purchasing Agent for the City of West Haven for four years and Purchasing Supervisor at America’s Purchasing Network.

Mr. Foley graduated from the University of New Haven with a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science.

First Selectman Mike Tetreau said, “I am very pleased to have Mr. Foley join the Fairfield team. He brings a wealth of knowledge and the right kind of experience to this important role. His qualifications will help this department continue to run even more smoothly and effectively. At a crucial time when our Town is working hard to save taxpayer dollars, I am particularly impressed with Mr. Foley initiating purchase cost reduction programs before he came to Fairfield.” First Selectman Tetreau added, “I also wish to thank Mr. Foley’s predecessor, Ms. Holland, for her dedicated years of service to our community and wish her all the best in her retirement.”

Mr. Foley said, “I am very thankful to be afforded this wonderful opportunity to work for a Town of this exceptional caliber. I’ve already met many dedicated employees, including those in my own department who, like me, are committing themselves to do the best job we can for this community. I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and helping be part of a local government that is known to be responsible to its citizens and providing the best level of service it can while seeking efficiencies wherever possible.”
