Fairfield, CT -- Dru Georgiadis has been nominated unanimously by the Fairfield Democratic Town Committee to run, in November, for the State House of Representatives in the 132nd Assembly District
Georgiadis, who currently serves on the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) representing District 9, said she was proud and humbled to be selected. She serves as Vice Chair of the Public Works and Planning Committee and sits on the Committee for Senior Tax Relief.
Dru was endorsed by Fairfield’s First Selectman Mike Tetreau, who spoke about her determination and interest in serving the needs of the constituents in the 132nd district. Georgiadis was seconded by Steve Baker, a former PTA President of both Sherman Elementary School and Roger Ludlowe Middle School. Baker highlighted Dru’s loyalty to her community and neighbors and spoke of the commitment she has shown over the years through her work and focus on local issues and educational concerns. Dru was the recipient of the Sherman PTA Volunteer of the Year Award in 2008.
Georgiadis spoke about the years she spent coaching boys’ lacrosse at Wakeman Boys and Girls Club and volunteering with community organizations, including The Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival, and serving on the Board of Directors of the Patterson Club and The Fairfield Garden Club. She also served the boards of the Sherman, Tomlinson, and Fairfield Ludlowe High School PTAs. It’s these experiences, combined with Dru’s 15 year career in corporate America, and almost a decade of commuting on Metro North, that give her a very personal and wide-ranging insight into the issues important to Fairfield’s residents. These experiences have taught her how to find the common ground where people can and will come together to solve shared problems. Georgiadis promised, “When I get to Hartford I will roll up my sleeves and work to find real solutions to problems begging to be solved.”
Dru received a BA in English Literature from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She worked in the magazine publishing industry, for companies including Time Inc., The Hearst Corporation, and Condé Nast Publications.
Dru and her husband Martin live in Fairfield's beach area. Their 18-year-old triplets and older son, 20, are currently in college. They are all graduates of Fairfield Public Schools.
