Fairfield Republicans Honor Members at Annual Lobster Bake

Fairfield, CT -- On Friday evening September 16th, nearly 100 supporters packed the Jacky Durrell Pavilion on Fairfield Beach under a perfect sky to celebrate the accomplishments of RTM Member Michael Herley (R-10), Registrar of Voters Roger Autuori and Fairfield Prep Senior Damian Chessare.

Michael Herley was awarded the Myrtle Miller Party Loyalty award.  Fairfield Selectman Chris Tymniak presented Herley with the award.  Michael Herley, a four-term RTM Representative, was praised for his commitment to community service and efforts to support Republican candidates. During his tenure on the RTM, Michael has served as the Deputy Majority Leader, Chairman of the Special Legislative Committee and Chairman of the Public Health & Safety Committee, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Legislative & Administration Committee. Michael currently holds the modern day record for receiving the most total votes of any RTM member to seek office in Fairfield.

Roger Autuori was awarded the Jerry Malafronte Community service award. Board of Finance Chairman Tom Flynn and former Easton First Selectman Tom Hermann, the son-in-law of the late Jerry Malafronte, presented the award. Roger Autuori has served as the Republican Registrar of Voters since 2007 and recently announced his retirement. Roger was praised for the critical role he has played in making sure every election, primary and referenda has gone off without a hitch. Roger’s work in the Registrar’s Office goes back to 1984.  In addition to his work in the Registrar’s office, Roger also serve two terms on the RTM.

Damian Chessare was awarded the Paul Tymniak Young Republican award. State Senator Tony Hwang and Selectman Chris Tymniak presented the award. Damian grew up in Fairfield and is currently a Senior at Fairfield Prep.  Damian developed an interest in politics and public service during a third grade trip to the U.S. Capital where he met then Congressman Christopher Shays in 2008. Damian has been a fixture at RTC meetings, events and on the campaign trail with numerous candidates.  He was praised for his optimism and strong work ethic that has inspired other young people to get involved in politics. In addition to politics, Damian is an Eagle Scout and has served as a tutor for an elderly illiterate & dyslexic man teaching him to read and write.

Fairfield RTC Chairman Jamie Millington stated, “We are so proud of the accomplishments of Michael, Roger and Damian. W are thrilled to be able to show our appreciation for all they have done for our Town and our Party.”
