Fairfield's Bravest Support Troops with Red Shirt on Fridays

Fairfield Fire Chief Richard S. Felner has issued all Fairfield Fire personnel "Support Our Troops" red uniform t-shirts to be worn on Fridays starting in August of this year in support of United States military troops as part of a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of American servicemen and women deployed around the world.

The Red Shirt Friday movement began in 2006 with numerous International Association of Fire Fighters Locals and other organizations across the country wearing red every Friday as a show of support for the troops deployed overseas, according to the IAFF and Armed Forces History Museum. Chief Felner notes that, by wearing red every Friday, the department will continue to demonstrate its support and gratitude to the nation's soldiers for their bravery and sacrifice.
