Fairfield's Bravest Respond to Steam Leak at Warde High

FAIRFIELD, CT -- On Tuesday afternoon November 18th at 11:55am, Fairfield’s Emergency Communication Center received a water flow alarm indicating an activated sprinkler system at Fairfield Warde High School. Fairfield Fire Companies 2 and 3 were dispatched, with Ladder 2 arriving first on the scene reporting that the building had been evacuated and the alarm was sounding.

Upon further investigation a leaking steam pipe was found in a tunnel under the building and the school was allowed to reoccupy, with Company 1 and the Fire Department Safety Officer called to the scene along with American Medical Response to assist in a confined space entry to identify the leaking pipe. Entry was completed and units began being placed in service by 12:48pm, with Car 3 last unit to clear at 1:09pm turning the scene over to Fairfield Public Schools for repair.
