Fairfield, CT - Aug. 2, 2015 - Sunday afternoon, August 2nd, at 4:33 PM, the Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received a report of two children that were unconscious in the water after some type of accident. A nearby boater assisted the children, removed them from the water and awaited emergency personnel. Other rescue boats from the Bridgeport Police and Fire Departments, as well as the Westport Fire Department, immediately responded to the area to assist.
Due to the unknown location, fire and police responded to Jennings Beach to visualize the victims and coordinate response. Responders arrived at the victims and quickly transferred them to rescue boats and transported them to the Fairfield Gas Docks where Fairfield Firefighters, Police officers and ambulance crews were standing by. Both victims were quickly stabilized, moved from the dock to the ambulances and transported to Bridgeport Hospital in critical condition. Paramedics from AMR initiated advanced life support and additional firefighters assisted ambulance crews during transport to the hospital.
Fairfield Police are continuing their investigation into the accident. The last fire units cleared the scene at 5:08 PM.
