Unknown Items Forces Evacuation at RLMS

Fairfield, CT - On Wednesday morning, June 15, at approximately 8am, Fairfield Police investigated a report of unknown items located in the rear parking lot of Roger Ludlowe Middle School. After a preliminary investigation, the items were presumed to be home-made curling stones, as used in the winter Olympic sport of Curling.

Although the items were presumed to be harmless, all proper procedures were followed to confirm the true nature and ensure the safe removal of the items. Students and staff were relocated to the school gymnasium while the items were further examined.

"The items were confirmed to be home-made curling stones and were disposed of by school maintenance staff," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Title. "Normal operations then commenced within the school and on school property."
