CT DOT to Install New Traffic Control Signals in Fairfield

Fairfield, CT - The Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) is developing plans to install new traffic control signal equipment and/or upgrade the pedestrian control features (countdown pedestrian indications, accessible pedestrian signals, sidewalk ramps) to meet current department standards in 17 towns and cities including Fairfield.

The following intersections will undergo changes in 2019:
Fairfield—U.S. Route 1 (Post Road) at Route 135 (North Benson Road) and S. Benson Road
Fairfield—U.S. Route 1 (Post Road) at Ruane Street

The design plans for these projects are expected to be completed in April 2019 with a tentative advertising date for construction of July 2019. It is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with ConnDOT to assist in the project’s development. At this time, it is anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will not be necessary. Anyone interested in requesting information on these projects may do so by contacting Frederick Kulakowski, Project Manager, at (860) 594-2747 or via email at frederick.kulakowski@ct.gov.
