What are you a fan of? All ages are invited to celebrate their favorite fandoms and pop culture from Harry Potter to Doctor Who, The Walking Dead to Doc McStuffins, Star Wars to Stranger Things, Ghostbusters to the Marvel Universe. Ridgefield Library’s Third Annual RidgeCon offers a host of all-age activities: wand and lightsaber crafting, scavenger hunts, trivia, board games, video games, augmented and virtual reality activities, Ewok Lego village build, Disney Sing-a-Long, Star Wars storytime, balloon art, dunk-a-villain, Raspberry Pi gaming, face painting by The Enchanted Garden, character appearances, lightsaber demos by Way of the Sword, music, prizes and so much MORE!

Costumes are encouraged (but not required), so come dressed as a favorite character and enter our costume/cosplay contest, or visit our create-your-own superhero costume shop first to make a cape, mask or other gear. Doors are open on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM at the Ridgefield Library at 472 Main Street in Ridgefield (the Library will also be open for regular business from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM).   All are welcome! Admission is free, thanks to our sponsors Workspace Education (event sponsor), Ridgefield Capital (dunk tank sponsor), Dimitri’s Diner (face painting sponsor), Planet Pizza of Ridgefield (face painting sponsor) and Ridgefield Academy (superhero sponsor). Raffle tickets for many cool prizes will be for sale.

This year we are pleased to include a special presentation on Friday evening, August 11th, to kick off the RidgeCon celebration. Do you love video games? More importantly, do you love the fun and epic music from video games? Join us for a panel discussion with Kate Remington, Music Director WSHU Public Radio, and creator of the podcast Music Respawn, focusing on music for video games, and composer, producer and songwriter Tom Salta as they discuss the music of video games. This will be followed by live music performed by the talented Norwalk Gamer Symphony Orchestra, led by director Bryan Doyle. Doors open at 6:30. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be provided.  Friday evening’s program is sponsored by Workspace Education.
