Open House for Cancer Walk September 10th

Support Connection is holding an Open House on Thurs., Sept. 10, from 4pm - 7pm, at the Support Connection office, 40 Triangle Center, Suite 100, Yorktown Heights, NY. Everyone is invited to meet Support Connection staff and volunteers, enjoy free light refreshments, and receive hands-on help getting ready for the 21st Annual Support-A-Walk for Breast and Ovarian Cancer.

The Open House will offer “one-stop-shopping” to help people begin preparing for the Walk. Participants can bring cash or check donations, and pick up Walk tee-shirts. Anyone wishing to set up an online fundraising page can receive step-by-step assistance at on-site computers. Those interested in forming a Team will receive materials and practical tips. Tribute Message signs, which are displayed along the Walk path with personal messages of support, will be available for viewing and purchase. Brochures and flyers can be picked up for sharing with others and in the community.

The Support-A-Walk, which will be on Sun. Oct. 4 at FDR Park in Yorktown Heights, was founded 21 years ago by local residents to bring attention to the needs of people affected by breast and ovarian cancer, and to raise funds for Support Connection’s free support services for those living with these diseases. People travel from across the Hudson Valley and beyond to take part in this inspiring and uplifting community event. Participants of all ages complete a 3-mile walk, often in honor of loved ones who are affected by breast and ovarian cancer. Families, friends, co-workers and teams of walkers are invited to walk together. Individuals are also welcome to participate.

Everyone is welcome at the Support-A-Walk Open House. For more information, contact Support Connection at 914-962-6402 or walk@supportconnection.org, walk@supportconnection.org. To learn about the Support-A-Walk, visit www.supportconnection.org.
