
Beth Blatt of Pound Ridge and Elizabeth Kemler of Pleasantville New York will present Songs for a Cause, a performance of original songs, on Sunday, June 28 from 5pm to 7pm at the Katonah Library. The event will include music inspired by the stories of the women and children participating within the organization Hour Children.
Hour Children is a non-profit working with The Bedford Hills Correctional Center with a mission to help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their children successfully rejoin the community in order to build healthy, independent and secure lives. With a mix of musical genres this evening will celebrate women helping women. Hors D’oeuvre and wine will be available to round out this unique and moving performance.
Ms. Blatt, with a background in musical theater both as a performer and lyricist, is the founder of Hope Sings, a for-benefit organization which raises awareness through music focusing on causes important to women. In 2013 Ms. Blatt wrote and performed “One Woman” now the anthem of UN Women, which celebrated International Women’s Day at The United Nations and was recorded with over 25 international musical artists.
