Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze

The Jack O’Lantern Blaze is one of the hottest tickets in Westchester this season and sells out quickly! Tickets are already sold out for this weekend but I’m posting it to remind you to buy tickets for future weekends before they sell out too!

“The tri-state area’s biggest, most electrifying Halloween event returns with more pumpkin power than ever before! Meander through an historic, 18th century riverside landscape and discover a breathtaking display - all made of jack o' lanterns!

In this elaborate, hugely popular walk-through experience, see more than 7,000 illuminated jack o' lanterns, all designed and individually hand-carved on site by our team of artisans.

Wander along our main street Pumpkin Promenade and stroll across the new Pumpkin Zee Bridge. Gaze in wonder at swimming aquatic creatures and gasp at the sight of a giant Sea Serpent surfacing next to the Croton River. Get mesmerized by a color-changing star show in the plus-sized Pumpkin Planetarium.

Feel the earth shake as you approach Jurassic Park, where a brand-new herd of pint-sized dinosaurs mingles with an enormous T-Rex, brontosaurus, triceratops, and flying pterodactyl. Squeal with excitement as the Circus Train rolls into town, with a cast of colorful clowns and awesome animals. Don’t miss Sleepy Hollow Country’s most iconic inhabitant, the Headless Horseman…yes, all made entirely of jack o’lanterns!

Gourd-filled Jack-in-the-boxes spring to life while a giant spider web spins a great #pumpkinblaze photo op.

Slithering snakes, a working doomsday grandfather clock, elaborate Celtic knot carvings, creepy cool cats, and comical, squash-eating Venus pumpkin traps are just some of the pumpkin treasures you’ll find.

Come gawk at more jack o'lanterns than ever before. Tens of thousands of visitors experienced last year’s Blaze®, which was SOLD OUT every night! Complete with sound effects, elaborate synchronized lighting and an all-original soundtrack by recording artist Richard Christy, this not-to-be-missed spectacle is the area’s most innovative Halloween happening.”

There is always SO much going on at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, CT.

This event sounds so fun!  Don’t miss the AquaScarium Halloween Prowl this weekend Oct. 22-23 & next weekend October 29-30 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.  There will be FREE admission for children in costume when accompanied by a paying adult.   “There's no trick about this treat as the Aquarium transforms into the AquaScarium, with an admission discount for kids in costume, safe trick-or-treating, special activities and lots of safe (non-scary) family fun.”

“The normal toy boat-building workshop transforms into the Halloween Carve & Create Station, where guests can decorate a keepsake. Pick from a real mini pumpkin ($7) or a forever artifical pumpkin ($15).  And watch as a master carver creates Halloween works of art for display in the Aquarium, er ... AquaScarium.

Face-painters will enhance Halloween alter egos, turning guests into wild creatures, superheroes, princesses and more. Face-painting times are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Cost is $5.  Supplying the artistry will be Wells Noonan of Faces by Wells (Oct. 22, 29 & 30) and Picasso Parties (Oct. 23).

And a dragon will be loose … but not too loose … at a "Meet the Dragon" station, where guests can touch or hold a bearded dragon from the "Dragons: Real or Myth?" exhibit. Times are 11 a.m.-noon, 1-2 and 3-4 p.m.

The AquaScarium itself will be ghoulishly decorated for Halloween, with the possibility that wolffish, mummichogs and sculpin could transform into were-wolffish, mummy-chogs and skull-pin!”

Check out the new Coral Reef Exhibit!  “A rainbow of colors dart and dash in our new 3,000-gallon Coral Reef exhibit, open now just past the Sea Turtles exhibit.  Meet more than 40 species of reef fish native to the Indo-Pacific, including brilliantly colored varieties of tangs, triggerfish, wrasses and more.  Displays explain why reef systems are so important to the ocean, yet why they’re also so fragile.

Plus, learn how global ocean currents can connect water in reefs on the other side of the planet to our local Long Island Sound – and thus, how our stewardship of the Sound also means good stewardship of all Earth's marine ecosystems.  The exhibit is a perfect pairing with the new IMAX movie, "Jean-Michel Cousteau's Secret Ocean," opening Sept. 6.”

Did you know there are Shark Dives on most Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays at 12:15 and 2:15 p.m.  And they are free with Aquarium admission.  “Interact with the Maritime Aquarium's dive team among the sand tiger sharks, lemon shark and other creatures of the 110,000-gallon "Ocean Beyond the Sound" exhibit.”

Don’t miss the "Animals Without Passports" exhibit, open now through Jan. 2, 2017.

“The large humpback whale population off Cape Cod supports a popular whale-watching industry. And, for the first time in decades, at least three whales spent the late summer of 2015 in western Long Island Sound.

But humpbacks aren’t in New England waters year-round and their annual international migration is the focus of the special exhibit, “Animals Without Passports."

Displays explore the challenges of humpback whales’ annual 3,000-mile migration between New England and the Caribbean. Learn when and why the whales migrate, and the hazards they face as they cross ocean borders, including poisoning from pollution, becoming entangled in fishing gear and being hit by boats and ships.

The exhibit is installed in the lobby of The Maritime Aquarium’s IMAX® Theater because it is a perfect tie-in to the movie “Humpback Whales,” showing daily through May 26.

“Animals Without Passports” tells its story by focusing on one whale, a female humpback named Salt who has been studied by researchers for 40 years. Trace Salt’s “family tree” as you also learn how scientists identify and track individual whales.”

Dragons! Real or Myth?  Meerkats and Jiggle a Jelly are also among some of the amazing current exhibits at the aquarium.

The aquarium is definitely worth a trip up the Merritt or 95!
