Throughout the month of September the topic of food insecurity has been top of mind as area tastemakers, supporters, social outreach organizations, and the media brought attention to this local (albeit, global) issue that can all too often be overlooked in the perceived comfortable confines of an affluent community. The Nevins Brothers; Jeremy, Doug, and Chef David of Siegel Bros. Marketplace and Wine & Spirits, have joined the crusade all month long, bringing attention to the topic and participating in numerous events throughout the month.
On Thursday, September 28th, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m., Siegel Bros. will present “Wanderlust”, a global food and wine event to benefit Food Bank for Westchester. The intimate food and wine experience, which will take over Siegel Bros. stunning wine & spirits shop, will explore the flavors of France, Italy, Australia, and America. A portion of ticket proceeds and 15% of wine sales this evening will be donated to the food bank in support of their on-going efforts to eradicate hunger in Westchester County.
This month Siegel Bros. teamed up with IntoxiKate’s Kate Schlientz and over 20 area restaurants to participate in Eating for Orange, a delicious social media campaign that had us eating orange and brought awareness to the hunger issue. Siegel Bros. took a bite of hunger with Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry during the sidewalk sale days, and they created a spectacular bounty table for the 13th Annual Feed Me Fresh event to benefit Mount Kisco Childcare Center.
