Harvey puts focus kids & the digital world on November 29

Harvey to Host ‘Screenagers’ Film and Forum

The Harvey School is hosting a forum Tuesday, Nov. 29 on the impact that living in the digital world has upon children and their families.

Harvey expects a full house in its Lasdon Theater when parents and local educators come together to view filmmaker Delaney Ruston’s powerful documentary, “Screenagers,” which explores parental struggles over children’s devotion to the digital world and the addictive power of social media and video games.

Harvey's new Head of School Bill Knauer, who has expertise in educational technology, expects the screening and the panel discussion that follows to raise important questions and offer suggestions for parents who have concerns regarding how much time their children spend on their electronic devices. “This is an opportunity for parents and teachers to partner and explore this important issue with the advice and guidance of experienced professionals,” Knauer said.

The panel of experts Harvey has lined up includes clinical psychologist Jennifer Powell-Lunder, pediatrician Allison Nied, attorney Sherry Levin Wallach, Mahopac Middle School Principal Vincent DiGrandi and Associate Director of First-Year Programs at Marist College, Colin McCann.

The film will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the forum with the panel responding to questions posed by the audience. Harvey is hosting the event in conjunction with Katonah-Lewisboro SEPTA.

Admission is free. Seating is extremely limited. Tickets to Harvey Presents: “Screenagers” – Film and Forum are available online only at www.harveyschool.org . Click on "Harvey Presents" to register.
