Wooster School Upper School Outstanding Citizenship Recognition: Anna Krzyzewski of Pawling

We would like to recognize a young woman who seems to have boundless energy and zest for school. She is constantly smiling, always offers others the benefit of the doubt, and tends to look for, and seek the best in all people and moments.

On 5th form, a group of passionate, personality-filled students come together to plan events and carry them out. There are power dynamics, communication challenges, and many tasks to complete. This student navigates this complex social situation every week with confidence and grace. When students start to disagree, she smooths over the conflict and helps them understand each other. She always knows when to crack a joke and help add levity to a difficult situation.

This young woman constantly puts the community in front of herself. This fall, when backup was needed in the drama production Fools, she stepped into a role at the last minute and did so gracefully and with tremendous generosity of spirit. She didn’t complain, she didn’t seek validation for her work, and she respected the integrity of the show and the role.

In the classroom, her teachers report that she is a model student in terms of effort, attitude, and product, and is always willing to help others.

I often make an effort to walk through the student center and spend a few minutes chatting with students whenever I am able. When I do, I have seen this student stop whatever she is working on, put down a book, and ask me how I am doing. She makes eye contact, conveys a true desire to know how others are feeling, and it is this authenticity that make her a true friend and supporter of her classmates and community.

Finally, her English teacher reports that she always begins class with a musical number; “It's like a private broadway review every day.”

Thank you to Anna Krzyzewski for her contributions to the Upper School community this fall.
