Harvey Girls Come Up Short in Comeback Try

Harvey’s girls varsity basketball team fell far behind in the first half, rallied to get back in the game in the second half, but ran out of time as league rival Forman held on to beat the Lady Cavs 42-40 on Friday, January 30.

A very sluggish first half put Harvey in a 28-15 hole at intermission. The Lady Cavs got their offense in gear late in the second half, but the final buzzer sounded before they could erase the deficit. The road loss dropped Harvey’s record to 8-2 on the season.

Freshman Julia Mallon of Katonah led Harvey in scoring with 13 points. Sophomore Hannah Paul had 8, freshman Nikkita Johnson had seven and junior Julia Frisch chipped in with six.

The Lady Cavs are back in action Monday on the road again against the New York School for the Deaf.
