John Jay High School Senior Named Semi-Finalist in Siemens Competition

Kailas Amin, a senior at John Jay High School has been named a semi-finalist in the Siemens Competition!

The Siemens Foundations states, "This year out of the more than 1860 projects submitted, 491 students are being recognized as semi-finalists. This select group of students and their notable projects are judged to determine who advances on to 6 regional competitions held in November. Individual and team winners of the regional contests earn the opportunity to compete in the National Finals held at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in December where $500,000 in scholarships will be awarded, including two top prizes of $100,000."

 The Siemens Foundation established the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology in 1999. According to the Foundation website, the Competition is the nation’s premier science research competition for high school students and seeks to promote excellence by encouraging students to undertake individual or team research projects. It fosters intensive research that improves students' understanding of the value of scientific study and informs their consideration of future careers in these disciplines.
