In Case You Missed it: Notes from the Bedford Town Board Meeting

Notes from the February 2 Town Board Meeting:

Capital Plan Work Session - LED Lighting Upgrades
The Board met with Public Works Commissioner Kevin Winn and Comptroller Ed Ritter to discuss capital plans for the lighting and water districts. The Town also is exploring with NYSEG the possibility of an upgrade to energy efficient LED lights affecting three lighting districts and the off-street parking areas (586 street lights) in the NYSEG service area. As to the Con Edison service area, 32 street lights have been converted to LED. The plan also includes a phased replacement of 30 year old street lights in Bedford Village. As to the water districts, there are no term capital needs other than vehicle replacements.

Improvements Ahead in Webcasting Meetings
The Town Board approved an agreement with a new webcast provider which both costs less than our current provider and will enable us to webcast meetings of the Town's permitting boards held in the conference room at 425 Cherry Street. Thanks to the Communications Committee and Councilman Don Scott for developing the proposal.

Update from the Historic Building Preservation Commission
The HBPC provided an update on its work regarding the draft survey of historic buildings and a proposed classification system for historic properties with procedures to streamline the application process where exterior alterations are planned. The HBPC has set public information sessions which property owners are encouraged to attend.
