Nutmeg Festival Is This Saturday in Ridgefield

In readiness for the 111th Nutmeg Festival this Saturday at St. Stephen’s Church in Ridgefield, members of the church at 351 Main St. are raising tents, setting up games and reconstructing the village of Saint Stephen’sville, the centerpiece of this annual event. The festival gets under way at 10 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m. with food, live entertainment, children’s activities, books, jewelry, a White Elephant sale, Silent Auction, raffle and many other attractions for all ages.

Magician Ben Nemzer will be back by popular demand, and the Catoonah Street Jazz & Blues Society will perform its signature Dixieland music. Food will be available all day, from pies and cookies at the St. Stephen’sville Pantry and Cookie Monster booths, to hot dogs, hamburgers and other specialties served courtesy of Odeen’s BBQ.  A portion of proceeds will benefit local charities, and admission is free.
