Only Six Days Left - Enter CT Children's T-Shirt Design Contest for Safe Kids Day 2015

This spring, Connecticut Children’s Injury Prevention Center will bring Safe Kids Day 2015 to another lucky school in Connecticut with the help of a brand new T-Shirt Design Contest.

“Deciding which school gets to have Safe Kids Day can be very difficult because safety education is so valuable to all children, “says Meg McCabe, Coordinator of Safe Kids Connecticut. “This year, the school will be selected through our first annual Safe Kids Connecticut T-shirt Design Contest and the winner will have the chance for Safe Kids Day 2015 to come to their school.”

Safe Kids Day brings a full day of interactive safety education to a local elementary school, allowing students to learn through activity stations focused on a variety of safety topics such as fire safety, pedestrian safety and water safety. Last year’s Safe Kids Day was held at Chase Elementary in Waterbury and included over 300 children participants and 40 volunteers.

The T-Shirt Design contest is open to all children ages 5-13. Designs must be child safety themed and drawn in marker or crayon on 8.5” x 11” white paper. Theme examples include pedestrian safety, water safety, sports safety, bike safety and fire safety. Entries are due no later than March 1st and can be mailed to:

Meg McCabe, Safe Kids Connecticut
12 Charter Oak Place
Hartford, CT 06106

While participation in the contest is free, a $5.00 donation with each entry is highly encouraged. All donations will be directed towards the purchase of safety education materials that will be provided to the school on the big day.

“We really want the children to be involved in this event,” says McCabe. “Our hope is that their participation will not only spark conversation but get them excited for Safe Kids Day and safety in general."
