Boys & Girls Village Golf Tournament Winners Announced

On June 6, 2016, nearly 140 golfers gathered to participate in an event that has been growing for over four decades – Boys & Girls Village’s 41st Annual Dan & Yolanda Adley Memorial Golf Tournament. The event was hosted at Race Brook Country Club in Orange. Many generous supporters participated in the day, including Bismark Construction as the title sponsor, and BIC Corp. as the co-sponsor. The “Rally for the Children” Pro-Am Tennis Tournament was also held in conjunction with the golf tournament, with 18 tennis players taking part at Tennis Central in Woodbridge. This year’s event generated an increase of more than 10% in overall support, a positive trend that has continued over the past several years. Proceeds support behavioral and mental health, permanency planning, education and vocational programs for children and their families from 50 communities throughout Connecticut.

Following a day of competition, golfers, tennis players and guests were treated to an informative and entertaining program led by emcee Bill Iovanne, Jr. They enjoyed raffle prizes and a silent auction, and auctioneer Eric Hummel successfully directed a live auction. During the evening, tournament co-chairs Gina Carloni Hart and Kevin Hart addressed attendees, citing the ongoing success of this event that has benefitted many children since its start 41 years ago.

In his comments, Steven M. Kant, M.D., President and CEO of Boys & Girls Village, shared, “This tournament is a signature event. It not only gives us a chance to spend a fun day together with like-minded supporters, but it also brings attention to the significant needs of children and families in our area whom we can help.” Dr. Kant in his comments underscored that he was extremely appreciative of the efforts of all participants, volunteers, and staff members who prepared for nearly a year.
