Bridgeport Nonprofit Caroline House Announces New Executive Director

Caroline House is pleased to announce the appointment of Lucy Freeman as Executive Director effective September 12, 2016. Lucy brings almost three decades of experience in working with homeless and/or underserved families with relevant government and private agencies in the Fairfield County area. She most recently served as Executive Director of Malta House, Inc., a maternity home in East Norwalk.

“On behalf of the Members of the Corporation and the Board of Directors of Caroline House, we warmly welcome Lucy Freeman to Caroline House and look forward to working with her as she assumes her role as Executive Director,” said Board Chair Sister Grace D’Amico, SSND. “Both the SSND Members and the Board are confident that Lucy will bring her passion for the service of immigrant women and children, her appreciation of community, her depth of experience, and her considerable skill set to this leadership position.”

Prior to serving as Executive Director of Malta House, Lucy served as Director of Homeless Programs at St. Luke's Life Works (Inspirica) family shelter in Stamford and was the Director of Quality Assurance for Laurel House, a support program in Stamford for adults with emotional and mental development challenges. She has a B.A. from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and an M.S. in Human Services Administration from New Hampshire College.

About Caroline House – Founded in 1995, Caroline House is a literacy education center located on the East Side of Bridgeport, Connecticut. English for Speakers of Other Languages, literacy, life skills, citizenship, preschool, and children’s tutoring programs serve low-income women and children.
