A Trip to Stratford Farmer's Market

Have you visited the Stratford Farm Market now located in Paradise Green near the gazebo?  This is a question I'd begun to hear regularly around town.  The word of mouth, initial opinion was "thumbs up".

I visited for the first time on Monday and I was stunned with its transformation. Lot's of new vendors joined the regulars.  I loved being able to purchase items such as cheeses, pickles, spreads, honey, and Italian ices alongside freshly picked local produce, artisan bread and local seafood.

At the farm stand I overheard customers inquiring about how to prepare the fresh okra.  Answer was that "Some folks eat it raw".  It inspired me to try the Swiss chard raw with red onion and cucumber in a chopped salad when I got home and it was a wow!

At the cheese stand, I tasted a cheese called Vespers, which was described as being made in a similar way to the famous Chèvre cheese and resembling brie. This was among my purchases.

On upcoming visits my neighbor recommends that I try the home made hummus and the infused balsamic vinegars.

What an enjoyable, picturesque place to be on late Monday afternoon for purchasing healthful local food and products. If you live in South Stratford and are wondering if its worth your while to travel a little further to the market, be assured that it is.  Parking was plentiful.

A big thank you to those who made this welcome change possible!
