The Milford Historical Society to Offer Native American Tour

The Milford Historical Society will offer a tour of its collection of Native American artifacts on Sunday, July 12 at 2 p.m. at the Society, 34 High Street. Your guide will be Jim Santa Barbara.

The late Claude Coffin collected these artifacts mostly from the Milford area from 1910 to 1960 and donated them to the Society.

There are items from every prehistoric period from the Paleo Indian to the Northeastern Woodland and Contact Period and includes projectile points covering a span of 10,000 years as well as spear points, celts, large axes, choppers and knives.  The collection of pottery is one of the most important in Southeast New England.

The event is free; donations accepted.  The houses are open for tours Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
