Requesting Resident Input: Milford To Install New Bike Racks

Milford, CT, August 5, 2014 Mayor Ben Blake is pleased to announce that new bicycle racks will be installed throughout Milford in an effort to enhance our Bike-able City Initiative. While several locations at municipal buildings and beaches have been identified for the installation of new racks, the Mayor is seeking the assistance of residents to help select appropriate and accessible sites for additional bike racks.

Bike Walk CT recently conducted a state-wide survey to determine how friendly each town's pathways are to bike and, Milford, impressively ranked in the State's top 10 percent of bike-able communities (Complete results of survey Bike Walk Connecticut Survey; www.bikewalkct.org).

"Milford offers our cyclists 17 miles of shoreline to tour; the popular annual event 'Folks on Spokes' has helped establish several well-marked routes around Milford," said Mayor Blake. "This is a community initiative and we look forward to the feedback we receive from residents."

To submit your bike rack location suggestion, please send an email to MilfordBikeRacks@ci.milford.ct.us. The City will keep a running list and will continue to expand on this initiative. The bike racks were designed by Dero and the complimentary logo was created by talented Milford designer, Rob Kurfehs.
