Ugly Sweater Spotting in Stratford

I was intrigued by a friend’s Facebook post that there was an Ugly/Tacky Sweater Contest being held at the Windsock Inn.  I’ve lived 10 years in Stratford and hadn’t ventured inside.  It’s “off the beaten convenient” - located at the edge of Sikorsky Airport on Main Street in Stratford.

What I found was a comfy, cozy, casual atmosphere with good drink and food.  But the real draw were the people.   A first timer like me, was not a stranger.  The warmth on a cold winter night doesn’t just come from the fireplace, it comes from the people working there and the customers themselves. 

And soI hunted around for an ugly/ tacky sweater -  any sweater that was a bit out of the norm was the event’s brief.  Three judges decided the best/ worst sweater. There were generous prizes, drink specials and a gift card raffle.   

This was such a nice chance to meet more locals or people who used to be locals. I’ll be back!
