New Musicals Featured in Pantochino's Summer Theatre Camps at Milford Arts Council

New, original musicals are featured in Pantochino Productions Inc.'s Summer Theatre Camps to take place at the Center for the Arts in Downtown Milford for four one-week sessions this summer.

The Milford Arts Council, in association with award-winning Pantochino Productions Inc, offers this acclaimed program for a sixth summer. It's popularity comes from a unique format and it's unmatched commitment to bring new, 100% original musicals to young actors and audiences.

Featured this summer is Elise Primavera's best-selling book "Louise ,the Big Cheese", (July 17-21) adapted for the stage by Pantochino's Bert Bernardi (book and lyrics) and Justin Rugg (music). "We have the exclusive rights to bring this delightful, very funny book to life--children will have a wonderful time with the story, the characters and the songs," said Bernardi, who is also one of Pantochino's co-producers. "Its about a girl named Louise, quite the spitfire, who wants the role of Cinderella in her school play," he added.

The other three musicals to be presented as part of this year's Summer Theatre Camp series are a wild western, "Little Red Ridin' Boots" (July 10-14), a fairy tale fantasy "The Further Adventures of the Ugly Stepsisters" (July 24-28) and a 1960's look at the story of Aladdin called "Super Groovy Aladdin" (July 31-August 4).

"Our camps always sell out and remains popular because the kids have so much fun,” said co-producer Jimmy Johansmeyer.  “They respond to the unique material and enjoy the bright, exciting atmosphere we create for them,” he added. “We’re not teachers--we are working professionals who love what we do and sharing our passion with young people.”

Each session is a five day experience from 9am to 3pm. In this short time, young actors learn, rehearse and perform a new musical which is performed on stage at the Milford Arts Council. Bernardi, Rugg and Johansmeyer will be joined by  Becki Walter, Maria Berte and Bryan Kirby for the four sessions.

Each session has a limited enrollment and registration is processed on a first come first served basis. “Our tuition fee is affordable and there are no hidden costs, no registration fees, advertising obligations or additional costs,” said Bernadi. “We offer discounted rates for those attending multiple weeks or for those attending with siblings,” he added. As these camps fill up quickly, it is recommended those interested should register as soon as possible. Full details on the camps, the company and registration forms can be found at www.pantochino.com.
