Call to artists and crafters: A few more space available

The Stratford Arts Guild still has a few spaces available for artists, artisans, and crafters at its 2nd annual "Artists & Artisans in Paradise 2014″ to be held Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Paradise Green, in Stratford, CT.

The guild welcomes applications from fine artists and artisans who create work from across the spectrum of the handmade arts, including fine artists, makers of original arts and crafts, and food artisans. Please. NO MASS-MARKET, RESOLD WORK, IMPORTS OR CRAFTS FROM KITS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THIS SHOW.

Guidelines include:

  • All artists, crafters and vendors are responsible for providing their own tables, chairs, displays and tents.
  • Prior participation does not guarantee acceptance in this year's show.
  • Artist Registration Fees: $85 July 1st to July 31st.
  • Deadline for all applications: July 31, 2014.
  • Please note: no more jewelers will be accepted at this time.

The event is in its second year. Last summer, it hosted over 30 arts exhibitors, a face painter, two food vendors, and one Italian ice vendor. An estimated 1,000 locals visited the green and some exhibitors reported selling up to 70 percent of their wares.

The sale and fair will also feature a community-sponsored, interactive art project for all ages, live music, live poetry readings, and a juried student art competition.

"We are seeing a growing demand in fine arts and crafts events, " said Anne Mulligan, guild member and event coordinator. "People want to talk to the artist, and to own original work.

Artist and crafters can register online at http://paradiseartshow.com, or by calling the Guild at 203-375-1258.

This event is brought to you by the Stratford Arts Guild with special thanks to our Diamond Sponsors, Two Roads Brewing Company and Bridgeport Landing Development (Steelepoint Harbor).
