More than 400 Students to Attend Connecticut. Dream It. Do It. “Manufacturing Mania" events on October 16 & 17

More than 400 middle school students from Bridgeport, New Haven and West Haven will travel to the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport to participate in two separate, back-to-back “Manufacturing Mania” events on Thursday, October 16 and Friday, October 17.

At both Mania day events, students will be introduced to manufacturing through team-based activities that replicate the manufacturing process from concept to design to fabrication to quality control. They will hear from state leaders, see 3-D printing in action, and learn first-hand from manufacturers about the latest manufacturing technology and future industry career opportunities.

“Manufacturing Mania” is part of Connecticut. Dream It. Do It. Manufacturing Month. Governor Dannel P. Malloy officially proclaimed October as Connecticut. Dream It. Do It. Manufacturing Month in recognition of the importance of the manufacturing industry to driving Connecticut’s economic growth and in honor of the state’s distinguished 200-year legacy of manufacturing products that impact the lives of people every day.

Exploring Made In Connecticut

Throughout Manufacturing Month, tours of manufacturing facilities, open houses at colleges and the state’s technical high schools, and expos hosted by organizations such as the Aerospace Components Manufacturers, NW Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, and the Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund, will help Connecticut residents learn about manufacturing and the career pathways it offers statewide. The activities will provide a foundation for students, schools, employees and employers to foster the next wave of Yankee ingenuity needed to make Connecticut manufacturing companies more innovative, more productive, and more competitive in the global market.
