Iron Bartender Competition Results!

In the spirit of Iron Chef, Cask Republic Stamford hosted a cocktail competition that was appropriately dubbed “Iron Bartender.” The contest featured mixologists from the area (and slightly beyond) who competed for bartending supremacy.

The bartenders were able to choose from a wide variety of ingredients that included everything from fresh herbs and fruits to things like Tootsie Rolls and Bubble Tape. There was a catch with a Chopped-esque twist…Each of the 13 teams had to use Tito’s Handmade Vodka and they chose two mystery ingredients that had to be used in their creation. Some of the mystery items were candy cane, chai tea, and the extremely odd looking citrus fruit called Buddha’s hand.

With 30 minutes on the clock, the 13 teams of two went about the competition in a fast, furious, and friendly way as they chopped, smashed, smoked, juiced, garnished, tasted and tasted again on their way to completing the challenge.

At the end of the time trial, bartenders were told to write down the name of their cocktail and everything that went into making it and were then instructed to exit the area so expert judges Anthony DeSerio, Jeff Marron, Carl Carrion, Tim Rykoski and Joel Lall could smell, sip, and discuss and ultimately render a verdict.

Results? Gotcha.
