Professional Director Challenges St. James Students with Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew

“Because it is the ultimate acting challenge,” explains venerable Director Dean Kyburz when asked why he is bringing Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew to St. James School's popular Drama Club.  Over 36 students are involved in the upcoming production which will be performed on May 2nd at 7:00 p.m. and on May 3rd at 3:00 p.m. in the St. James School Gymnasium, Stratford.

“By attempting something very difficult, you gain tremendously,” Kyburz continues.  As a career actor, Kyburz has performed in numerous Shakespearean plays.  “There is a very good reason that Shakespeare has been so popular for over 400 years.  His humanistic view of the world, with people dependant on one another …  His outstanding use of poetry …  Witnessing a well-done Shakespearean play is a very special thing.”  “It's difficult, but the students are up for the challenge.”

In his voluntary role as Director of the St. James Drama Club for over 15 years, Mr. Kyburz has had a profound impact on the students and the satisfaction of having inspired some to pursue theater and production in high school and beyond.

The public is invited to experience this ambitious production.  Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door.
