The Hilarious, Foot-Stomping, Rock Musical Comedy, Little Shop of Horrors performed by Lauralton Hall

Lauralton Hall will present Little Shop of Horrors, a delectable sci-fi horror musical based on the film by Roger Corman, with screenplay written by Charles Griffith, at Parsons Center Auditorium. This outlandish musical will be performed on Oct. 23 at 7:30 pm, Oct. 24 at 7:00 pm & Oct. 25 at 2:00 pm.

This charmingly tongue-in-cheek comedy, with characters that include a singing plant, a daring hero a sweet girl and a demented dentist will leave you rolling in your seats. A hapless flower shop worker Seymour Krelborn buys and nourishes a Venus fly trap-like plant, which he names for his beloved co-worker Audrey. The plant, he named Audrey II, ultimately grows big enough to devour everything in its path. This foul-mouthed, cantankerous, R&B-singing carnivore promises Krelborn unending fame and fortune as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. As his appetite grows, Seymour feeds Audrey's sadistic dentist boyfriend to the plant and later, Mushnik for witnessing the death of Audrey's ex. Will Audrey II take over the world or will Seymour and Audrey defeat it?

As one of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this outrageous spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a household name, thanks to a highly successful film version and an electrifying 1960s pop/rock score created by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast and Aladdin). Charming, tuneful and hilarious Little Shop of Horrors never fails to entertain.

Director and Chair of the Lauralton Hall Fine Arts Department, Margy Sargent is excited to bring the production alive on the stage at Parsons Auditorium. “Little Shop gives our incredibly talented cast a great opportunity to show off not only great voices, but also their outstanding comedic abilities,” Mrs. Sargent states. “This show is as fun to produce as it is to watch.” As done in the past, the students from Notre Dame of West Haven have joined the ensemble to make this production complete.

All performances are open to the public and tickets—$15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors—will be available at the door.  Performance times are: Oct. 23 at 7:30 pm, Oct. 24 at 7:00 pm & Oct. 25 at 2:00 pm.
